08 Sep CENSUS
I asked “Chat” our Artificial Intelligence (AI) associate to estimate how many of the graduates from our class of one hundred forty-five in 1956 should be alive in 2024.
“Chat” said we can use general life expectancy statistics and then make a rough guess on how many Graduates might have a Facebook Account.
“1. Estimating Survival in 2024: In the mid-1950s, the average life expectancy in the U.S. was about sixty-eight years for men and seventy-four years for women. However, this is a broad average, and many factors influence survival into later years.
According to general longevity tables, around fifty to sixty percent of people who are seventy-five years old may live to age eighty-five. For those who were around eighteen in 1956, by 2024, they’d be about eighty-six years old. So, a rough estimate would be that perhaps twenty-five to forty percent of your classmates might still be alive. Out of one hundred forty-five graduates, that would suggest about thirty-five to fifty-eight people could be alive today. (But, we show 95 persons on our Living Graduates Page). We need your help to identify those who have departed from the Living to the RIP. Please complete the form below and SUBMIT it before Cheese Days begins on the 20th of this month.
2. Estimating Facebook Usage: Among older adults, Facebook is quite popular, though usage declines with age. Surveys show that about forty to fifty percent of people over sixty-five use Facebook. So, for those remaining graduates, perhaps twenty to thirty percent of them might have Facebook accounts.
That would mean seven to seventeen graduates might be using Facebook today.
This chart shows we have 95 graduates on our GRADUATES page and 51 on the LEST WE FORGET page. Please help me correct the GRADUATES AND RIP’S numbers and SUBMIT the form before Cheese days begins on the 20th of this month. If nothing else it will show that “Chat’s” (AI) estimates were correct or not and prove that my numbers need to be changed. Which I’ll do.
